MENSAJE DEL GOBIERNO DE NICARAGUA EN LA
27 CONFERENCIA DE LAS PARTES DE LA CONVENCIÓN MARCO DE NACIONES UNIDAS SOBRE CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO (COP 27). SEGMENTO DE ALTO NIVEL

Señor presidente de la COP 27
Estimados ministros, viceministros, jefes de delegación y delegados.
Buenas tardes,
1. Nuestra delegación tiene el honor de transmitir el fraterno saludo del Presidente de la República de Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, y de la Compañera Vicepresidenta Rosario Murillo Zambrana, a todos los Pueblos y Gobiernos aquí representados, en particular al Gobierno y al pueblo de Egipto por su hospitalidad y organización de tan importante evento.
2. El cambio climático es un tema que nos preocupa a todo el mundo, por eso estamos reunidos, donde los países desarrollados generan emisiones alrededor de 50 mil millones de toneladas de dióxido de carbono, y que ya están provocando concentraciones de 420 partes por millón y anomalías de temperaturas de 1,1 grados Celsius.
3. Nicaragua es el país que tiene la mayor frecuencia de fenómenos hidrometereológicos, lo cual trae consecuencias económicas que superan nuestra capacidad financiera para
restauración del daño y la economía, tal y como fue el más reciente huracán Julia de octubre 2022, que nos dejó pérdidas económicas por US$367 millones.
Señor presidente,
– Para enfrentar los efectos del cambio climático es impostergable que los países desarrollados reduzcan sus emisiones en 50% al 2030, con una movilización financiera de US$100 mil millones anuales; y establecer Pérdidas y Daños al mismo nivel que adaptación y mitigación.
– Urge fortalecer la Justicia Climática con una indispensable política de reparación en esta COP-27, los cuales deben estar basados en el principio de Responsabilidades Comunes pero Diferenciadas y Capacidades Respectivas.
Señor presidente, señoras y señores presentes,
Nicaragua está convencida que esta COP-27 prevalecerá el respeto, el entendimiento y la solidaridad, sin exclusiones, para un mundo mejor para nuestras generaciones actuales y futuras.

Mr. President of the COP 27,
Dear Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Heads of Delegation and Delegates.
Good afternoon,
1. Our delegation has the honor to convey the fraternal greetings of the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Comrade Vice President Rosario Murillo Zambrana, to all the Peoples and Governments represented here, in particular the Government and People of Egypt, for their hospitality and organization of such an important event.
2. Climate change is an issue that concerns the whole world, which is why we are meeting. Developed countries generate emissions of around 50 billion tons of carbon dioxide, which are already causing concentrations of 420 parts per million and anomalies of temperatures of 1.1 degrees Celsius.
3. Nicaragua is the country that has the highest frequency of hydro meteorological phenomena, which have economic consequences that exceed our financial capacity to restore the damage and the economy, as was the case with the most recent Hurricane Julia, in October 2022, which left us with economic losses of $367 million.
Mr. President,
– To face the effects of climate change, it is urgent that developed countries reduce their emissions by 50% by 2030, with a financial mobilization of US$100 billion per year; and setting Losses and Damages at the same level as adaptation and mitigation.
– It is urgent to strengthen Climate Justice with an indispensable policy of reparations in this COP-27, which must be based on the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capacities.

Nicaragua is convinced that respect, understanding and solidarity, without exclusions, will prevail in this COP-27, for a better world for our current and future generations.
