El Banco Central de Nicaragua (BCN) anuncia la emisión de mejora en el billete de 500 córdobas, con el propósito de mantener en buen estado los billetes que estén al servicio de la población nicaragüense.
El billete de 500 córdobas mantiene el mismo diseño y medidas de seguridad de los billetes de polímero actualmente en circulación. La mejora consiste en que se incorpora un elemento táctil que facilita la identificación para las personas con discapacidad visual. El elemento táctil está constituido por veinticuatro puntos ubicados en cuatro columnas de seis puntos cada una, que se encuentran en la parte inferior derecha del anverso, y en la parte inferior izquierda del reverso del billete.
Finalmente, se informa a la población nicaragüense que los billetes de 500 córdobas actualmente en circulación conservan su valor liberatorio, y que continuarán circulando junto a estos nuevos billetes hasta que sean sustituidos, de manera gradual, conforme su deterioro.
