Dear Sister, Dear Brother,

President and Prime Minister:

On behalf of the people and government of Nicaragua, and on our own behalf, we extend our warmest congratulations on the occasion of the 157th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, a universal figure whose life and work constitute an enduring legacy of truth, nonviolence, dignity, and justice.

As we commemorate this date, which also marks the International Day of Nonviolence, we honor the leader who made human dignity a common cause and peaceful resistance a force capable of winning without hatred and of transforming without destroying.

Nicaragua and India walk side by side as close friends, united by mutual respect, cooperation, and a shared commitment to building a more balanced, compassionate, and humane world. On this anniversary, we reaffirm our appreciation for that friendship and our desire to strengthen the bonds between our peoples and governments.

May Gandhi’s teachings, as a seed of peace, continue to take root in our nations and throughout the world.

Please accept, together with the noble people of India, our fraternal embrace and our best wishes for well-being, prosperity, and harmony.
